We are commanded of Christ to “baptize” believers. If the Greek word that is used\nhere were translated instead of transliterated\, the command in the New Testament\nwould read as follows:\n“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations\, immersing them in the name of the\nFather and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”\nII. Why is the believer to be baptized?\nThe believer is to be baptized for several reasons. \nA. Because Jesus commanded that believers be baptized and\, therefore\, it is a matter of\nobedience.  \nTherefore go and make disciples of all nations\, baptizing them in the name of the\nFather and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19  \nB. Because the apostles commanded converts to be baptized (Acts 2:37-39; 10:44-48).  \nPeter replied\, “Repent and be baptized\, every one of you\, in the name of Jesus Christ\nfor the forgiveness of your sins.
